Which Foods Have The Most Influence on Our Bodies?
It is a saying as old as time itself and very popular with doctors and mothers alike, and it goes “you are what you eat”. Roughly translated this saying means that every part of our body (and potentially mind) is affected in some way by the things that we put in our mouth. Because of this, we are forever being ordered to eat certain things, drink certain things and avoid lots of things. It is not always easy to know which advice to follow though and which is the most import, so lets examine some of the most important foods to control.
Salt. It is only reasonably recently that we have been made aware of the harm that salt can do to us. The Food Standards Agency in the UK state that people should have no more than 6g of salt and day and most people exceed this. If you are very active then you will need more salt in your diet as it is lost via sweating and important to muscle function but most people should cut down as high in salt intake is closely linked to high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Rather than put it in your body, salt is good at conditioning skin and is in fact an ingredient in numerous skin care products
Fats. There are types of fat that are vital to the functioning of our body, including maintain organs, skin and vision. However these are unsaturated fats and not the saturated fats (also known as trans fats) that are unfortunately too prominent in lots of people’s diets. Put simply, eating too many saturated fats will not only make you fat but could also cause heart disease, organ failure and diabetes to name a few. It won’t matter how many times you have a manicure, inside and out will not be great if you don’t watch your fats
Water. This is not something you eat of course, but you should not underestimate the power of the H20. Although many experts suggest you drink 2lts a day, it really depends on myriad factors such as age, location, activeness etc. Water is used in every element of the bodies functioning but also has a large impact in appearance, so if you drink enough of the stuff you won’t need to have cleansing facial wash as frequently
